A Backdoor Makeover

Here's a beautiful "before and after" of one of my favorite bloggers back entrance, http://j-a-girl.blogspot.com/. It motivated me to get going on my own makeover! I power washed the front of our house this morning. I have big plans to do some painting, planting, and decorating. Photos coming soon.

Scrapping

I took the time this week to update Charlie's baby book, I was only 4 months behind. The album would be in one of the last boxes unpacked since our recent move. I also finished several pages in Katherine's baby book while she sang (very loudly) and worked on her own mini scrapbook. Yes, that is a swimsuit she has on with the tags still on it. She's full of surprises and song.

Vintage Cuteness

I came across a basic sewing book at the library this week from the early 70's. The illustration of the sewing corner is so charming. One day I shall have a sewing/craft corner of my very own, sigh.

Fun book

I'm able to get back to reading now that the baby is sleeping through the night. In the past I would choose books from Oprah's list but after The Pilot's Wife my sweet husband requested that I read things that made me less paranoid and suspicious.
Since then I usually stick to the Young Adult books. I enjoy more light hearted stories. My latest read was Alex and the Ironic Gentleman by Adrienne Kress. It gets a thumbs up from me! The writing had a lot of dry humor which I like and a happy ending.

Blog Title

Coming up with a blog title was a bit challenging. My daughter is really into playing pretend. I usually choose to be a mermaid and she's usually "Queen Kitty" or "Saber-Tooth". I thought it would be cute to ask my husband what he'd like to be, assuming he'd say astronaut. However the answer was "a rich retired man". On second thought, The Mermaid and The Rich Retired Man sounds quite intriguing.
